Sorry to dredge up this thread for a seventh(!) consecutive year, but my head is spinning trying to keep all the versions of Gonzalez' "Haven't Stopped Dancin' Yet" straight. So I thought I'd try to compile a summary here. (Any additional input or corrections are welcome.)
==> original non-hit 45 version - 3:43
==> 12" single version [remixed by John Luongo] - 8:02
==> hit long 45 version [which is an edit of the 12" version] - 4:56
==> hit short 45 version [which is an early fade of the long 45 version length] - 3:45
==> Shipwreck vinyl LP version [which is the same mix as the original non-hit 45 version, but longer] - 4:15-4:20?
==> Haven't Stopped Dancin' vinyl LP version [which is the same as the 12" single version and therefore the hit mix] - 8:02?

That's just about right, Todd - only thing different is
the original mix's 45 and LP versions were different. The
"Shipwrecked" LP version, from memory, was about 4:15 -
4:20 approx. I don't recall if an edit or early fade for
the 45 though.
But everything for the remix / hit version shown above is
spot on.

Thanks for the info, Mark. I went back to my previous post and updated my summary list accordingly.

And now to bring up this thread for an eighth (!) consecutive year ... on the elusive single mix of "Haven't Stopped Dancin' Yet" ...
Well, I have GREAT news and some closure to this topic. Gold Legion Records has released the 12" mix of Gonzalez' "Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet" (the mix that was used and edited down to become the hit single version), and in even better news, it's from master tape!! First time ever. And it's fully the correct 12" mix, not the weird, edited from the hit and non-hit mixes version that someone put together, or the partially-vinyl, partially-tape mixes that have shown up.
The CD is a various artist disco collection containing 12" mixes of 11 songs (which take up virtually 80 minutes) titled "Disco Discography Vol. 1". For those who want to buy this CD, here are the links:
Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Disco-Discography-Vol-Two-Tons/dp/B006 ASDYXQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1358223104&sr=1-1&keyw ords=disco+discography

I edited down the 12" mix to the hit single mix tonight! Sounds great!! I bought "Haven't Stopped Dancin' Yet" on CD 23 years ago (not knowing any better) ... who knew it would take this long until anyone could have the actual hit mix on CD?!
The funny thing is this CD came out in 2011. But I guess no one was willing to take the risk, with all those other 12" versions of this song surfacing on CD from vinyl, or that weird combo-mix nightmare. I was very reluctant to buy this CD for fear it would be from vinyl. So I was shocked when I listened closely on headphones and realized someone actually got EMI to go into the vaults and get the right mix!
That's one more '70s hit I can cross of my CD want list! Yay! Now if only someone will release Stallion's "Old Fashioned Boy" and Al Wilson's "I've Got a Feeling" from master tape!!

This is excellent news Gordon. I just got my copy of the
Gold Legion disc and I'm happy to finally get the correct
hit 12"/LP version on CD (from master tape). By the way, I
counted three different deadwax info upthread for the
Capitol 4674 45 single. Jim has "S45-60020 D G-5" and runs
(4:56), Ed has "S45 X60020A F2" and runs (3:43) and I have
"S45 X60020D F2" and runs (4:56) (got my copy in Miami in
early 1979).

The 1979 promo video for the hit version is on youtube.
I noticed instead of using the short hit 45 for the
video, they used the 4:56 version, but edited out one
verse.
Some trivia;
Recently i also discovered the lead vocal on this song is
by British session singer Lenny Zakatek. He also appears
in the above-mentioned video.
We also know Lenny's lead vocals from these Alan Parson's
Project hits:
"I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You",
"Damned If I Do", and "Games People Play".
He appears in the videos for these songs as well.
Cool, huh? Sorta like another Tony Burrows.

i just checked allmusic.com and there are quite a few imports that contain a 4:10-4:13 version of the song.....my guess is that is where i got my cdr from years ago.....the db doesn't show any of these because they're imports, but there out there.... |

I believe this song's thread should be used as an initiation for all new members to weigh in on. If you can sort this one out, you'll make it into the club.
I'm going with the assumption that if I fade the 4:10-ish version (that often shows up as the single version outside North America) 27 or so seconds early to 3:43, I'll have the short "hit" version (Capitol 4674). That is, if I'm reading this right.

Hi Plastic! Welcome to the board! Actually I'm sorry to
tell you the 4:10 version Ed describes is not the hit mix.
To date the only CD appearance worldwide of the hit mix
from master tape is the above mentioned Gold Legion CD.
It contains the full 12" single which can be edited down
to the hit 45 version. MM
