(Edit: Hits Man correctly identified the label as Midland,
not Windsong. I should not post from memory...) |

Some time along the way, the label changed its name to
Midsong International, so he wasn't far off.

FWIW, my local radio stations in the Twin Cities almost always played the shorter versions of both hits.

I found a needledrop of the short 45 version of "Get Up And Boogie". This needledrop starts at 104.7 BPM and ends at 104.5 BPM. That's an imperceptible drop in tempo from beginning to end, and is effectively indistinguishable from the 105.0 BPM of the CD versions.
So the CD versions run at the speed of the short 45 version, which I deem to be "correct". The long 45 version is "slow", according to me.

The database currently lists the 7+ minute versions of "Fly Robin Fly" and "Get Up And Boogie" as (remix) next to their respective CDs. Although I don't own the promo 12" singles, these songs did appear in "Disco" versions in their original release years.
Fly Robin Fly promo 12" (printed time 7:39)
Get Up And Boogie promo 12" (printed time 7:55)
I also have a 2-LP "Best Of" from 1978 that touts "Unedited Disco Versions Never Before Released..." and has the same printed times for those two tracks. The CDs containing the "remix" versions are very close in run times to the printed times of the 12" singles, so it may be worth investigating to see if what appears on the CDs is actually the promo 12" versions. I don't believe I own any of the CDs that Pat has labeled "remix," so I'm only bringing this up as a PSA :)
