Funny that you mention "Capital G." Just last week, someone asked me if I had that single.

It's really hard to gauge how much a single is going to sell for on eBay, since the final price depends on how many bidders want it (or even know that it's listed) and what the second highest bidder is willing to pay. I sold a mint condition promo single on eBay for $35 once, and then I saw the exact same single sell a few days later for $75! Go figure...

Aaron:

Guess it's all about making a profit on ebay...in this case, a big profit!

Like you guys have been saying, when I worked in radio, it was INSANE the amount of promo 45's and later, CD singles that got tossed. If I could only go back in time to scour those music offices today...

Oh I understand why but it's just certain promos that are really, really
hard to fine.

Tell me about it. I've been on the hunt for certain vinyl 45 promos from the '89-91 period (mostly on Capitol) and they just don't exist on this earth outside of a few well-known collections. I've tried just about everywhere to find them - and they're just not out there.

I'm beginning to think that many of them must have been tossed :(

Here's a question that's been bugging me. I know that people who work at radio sations have access to promo cd's. But how come certain people who sell them always have multiple copies of them. If you go on ebay there are certain "stores" that will sell the same item over and over and over again. Even before ebay I knew of a few places in Goldmine that used to get in like 10-50 copies of the same promo cd single. Where are they getting this stuff from if you can't "buy" it??
