The LP version was released as the 7" commercial single, and was one of two versions released as a promo. The Edited Remixed Version was also released as a promo.
The song went to #33 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #21 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.
Was top 40 radio playing the LP version, or the Edited Remix?

WLOL in Minneapolis started with the LP
version and later switched over to the
edited remix.

RCA Legacy has released a digital EP for "Foolish Pride" mirroring the tracklist from the
U.S. promo 12". This includes the main 12" extended version, the dub mix, and the Edited Remixed Version. This follows the recent "Dreamtime" EP as discussed in the thread for that single. I have no inside info., but a site
I follow on social media, The Second Disc, says to "expect more of these over the next month", so fingers crossed we may get one for "Someone Like You" as well.

That's a nice surprise! I just bought it, and while the tracks are mastered loudly, it's not the point of distortion. It's nice to have the promo 45 version of "Foolish Pride" available from the master tape.

Agreed on the mastering: for modern day practices, it's pretty restrained. It's definitely a little gentler than some of the tracks on those 2018 Single Mixes and Extended Mixes H&O compilations. I was
quite happy/relieved upon inspection!
