My local radio station (Hit 104.7) plays a clean edit that is near-identical to
this version, but with the "whips and chains" part of the hook reinstated:

It appears to be an officially-serviced edit, as this rip from the UK's Kiss
FM matches the above description: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=l9S5JNV1LMk It's also worth noting that Hit 104.7 rarely play in-house
edits of songs, which is a valid point in my theory.

Where I am they play an intro instrumental edit tacked on to the beginning (which for my radio station is the norm.) Not hard to replicate. They did the same thing for Paint The Town Red, which I also had to replicate.

Personally, I think its pointless to take out the whip and chains and then leave whip in the rest of the song. Just my take.
