Yeah, I'm hanging around the Bubbling Under lately....
This one, hitting #104 and one of my FAV Monkees tracks, I have running 4:21-
ish, both in stereo and mono. Finding a few 45s on YouTube, they all fade by
3:58.
My Pop Annual 1955-2001 issue shows the timing as 4:26. A question for Paul
Haney: Is that an error - did any 45s run 4:26 in 1967? And if an error, has it
been corrected in the new book?

Not sure where that (4:26) time came from, but I can report
that's what the new Pop Annual shows.
Will have to investigate further.

As far as I can tell, the long version of "Goin' Down" first appeared on the 1982 Rhino picture-disc compilation Monkee Business
which was co-compiled and annotated by Bill Inglot. It seems that Rhino has since adopted the long version (that is the one lasting 4:26)
as the official version despite the original "Daydream Believer" 45 flipside having an earlier fade.
