A while back, David Clark posted some info about "Ticket To Ride" being "slightly remixed for CD in 1987." When I was working to "re-create" the Movie Medley, I also noticed that the stereo version of "Ticket" in the medley was slightly different than the stereo version I have on the red album.

Does anyone else have a stereo version of "Ticket To Ride" from pre-1987 that sounds different than the mix on 1962-1966 on CD?

The version on Capitol Albums Vol. 2 should be the original stereo mix. The regular CDs of Help!, Rubber Soul, and Revolver were all remixed, the entire albums. Until this latest Capitol Albums issue, the original stereo mixes of the Help and Rubber Soul albums had never been issued on CD.

(Except it was recently discovered that, for whatever reason, some early Canadian pressings of the Rubber Soul CD did contain the original mix of the album. I forgot how to identify them, but I read about it on the Steve Hoffman website.)

well...yes, and no Brian!

The U.S. stereo Help! LP contained a (horrible) "duophonic" remix of "Ticket To Ride", as does the Capitol Albums Vol. 2 CD. [Sidenote: the mono U.S. Help! LP used a fold-down of this!].

The first true stereo mix of this track did not appear in the U.S. until "Reel Music" and "20 Greatest Hits" in 1982!

The only place to my knowledge to obtain an original stereo mix is on vinyl (I happen to have a Japanese pressing of The Beatles Red (British pressing)...very clean!). Note the U.S. Red LP used a mono or duophonic version of this (not sure, but it was not stereo).

Well, if the rumors are true, the entire catalog is undergoing a remaster soon and will include the original stereo mixes.

I thought that "The Beatles Movie Medley" was released as a single,
of sorts, from the compilation Reel Music (Capitol SV-12199, 3/
82), so might not the "Medley" version of "Ticket To Ride" be from
that LP release?

You're probably correct, Paul. To restate my question:

Is the version currently available on CD a remix? If so, the database should probably note this. Perhaps the version on Reel Music is also the original stereo LP version that David mentions above.

yes, the versions on CD are a slight remix, as are several other Beatles songs on CD.

The Reel Music LP used the original 1965 stereo mix from what I understand.

p.s...I would love to actually hear the Movie Medley!
