The database notes that the available versions on CD of Stagger Lee by Tommy Roe are neither the 45 or LP version. The Lp version fades in, but the CD versions start at full volume and there is a speed difference when compared to the LP version.
I found today an orignial DJ pressing of Stagger Lee, one side is mono with a stated time of 2:53, and the other side states Stereo Long Version, does not fade in (starts at full level like the single) with a label time of 3:16 but a run time of 3:20, which puts it in line with the CD versions.

Good discovery, Bill. Thanks for clearing this up!
So can it also be concluded from this that the commercial 45 and short DJ version can be re-created from the 3:20 long DJ version?

Yes, just an earlier fade for the mono single version.

Regarding Tommy Roe's "Stagger Lee", the database currently states: (dj copies of this 45 run (2:53) and (3:20) not (3:16) as stated on the record label). I thought it would be helpful to also note in the database that commercial copies of this 45 run 2:52. (Thanks goes out to my good friend Jim for assisting me with his vinyl 45 dub.)

just want to be clear on this one....my commercial 45
issued as abc 11307 is just a fade of the lp version...if
you fade for 0:08 from 2:44 to 2:52 on the 3:20 greatest
hits cd version you can effectively re-create the
commercial 45 version....so the db entries s/b qualified
as LP length NOT version...

Ed since you are not a subscriber to the database, I should remind you that the 2 entries for Stagger Lee by Tommy Roe do not state LP version or LP length but instead read "dj 45 long version".
