Since current database CDs stating "45 Version" for this song range bewteen (4:11) and (4:16), I decided to time my commercial 45. It has a listed time of (4:14) and an actual time of (4:15).

Jim, there might be an explanation for the timing differences. I was just reading on wikipedia.org that there are some mislabled versions floating around on CD. The first claim is that the 1999 remaster of Songs From the Big Chair has added reverb on "Mother's Talk (US Remix)," which is a bonus track.

The second claim is that the Deluxe Edition of Big Chair has a different "remix" of "Mother's Talk," even though it is labeled as "US Remix." Perhaps this could explain the time variance; however, I do not own any of the CDs I just mentioned. I only have Shout: The Very Best Of..., which supposedly has the correct version.

Was anyone ever able to verify if the remastered versions of "Songs From The Big Chair" contained alternate remixed versions?

From Wikipedia regarding the 1999 remaster:

"'Mothers Talk (U.S. Remix)' on the remastered CD is
the correct version of this remix, but has had
additional reverb applied to it. The 1999 remaster
is the only CD on which this 'extra reverb'
      version can be found."

Regarding the 2-disc Deluxe Edition:

"Track 7 is labeled 'U.S. Remix' on the packaging
but is in fact a different version from the real
'Mothers Talk (U.S. Remix)' on the original vinyl
      singles."

I can verify that the 2-disc deluxe edition does not contain the US 7" version. track 7 on disc 2 is different from the get go - a different mix for sure...
It's similiar to the 7" version, but contains some different elements.

Thanks, Chuck. Looks like the database will need to be updated.
