my commercial 45 issued as geffen 28249 states on the label a run time of 5:10, but actually runs 5:05 like all the entries in the db.....in addition, my promo 45 also issued as geffen 28249 contains two edits of the song.....
side a
edit short intro (3:58)
side b
edit (4:03)

Just did a recreation of the (Edit-Short Intro) and the run time comes out to 3:50.

I own a promo 12" single for "Angel" (PRO-A-2958) that includes the same,
listed (5:10) "New AOR Mix" version on both sides of it. I just played the start
of it, and it sounds like the LP version, with additional AOR-friendly musical
elements added to it. Credits are "Produced by Bruce Fairbairn - Engineered
by Mike Fraser and Bob Rock - Mixed by Mike Fraser". I suspect this 1988
promo 12" single may be the only place where this unique mix has ever
appeared.

Good info, Jim! The AOR Mix was also issued on the 5" promo CD as
track 2. When time permits, I can pull it and post times and details.

Hey,
can you post the edit points to recreate that edit?

I would be interested in these as well, please. At present
I only have the LP Version and New AOR Mix which both run
over 5 minutes. Something shorter would be ideal. Thanks.

Starting with LP version and working backwards:
1) Remove 4:15 to end (starting with the word "tonight")
2) Create a bell-curve fade from 4:00 to 4:15
3) Remove 2:48 to 2:59 (editing on the snare in both places)
4) This is the "Edit" version from the promo 45. You're done.
To create the "Short Intro" version from the promo 45, make one additional edit to the above "Edit" version:
5) Remove section from approx. 0:05.9 to 0:17.1. Edit is a little tricky to explain in words, but it occurs at the beginning of the guitar lick at 0:17.
