Pat states that DJ copies of this single run 3:45 and commercial copies were all 5:29.
I'm 99.9% sure that I used to own a commerical copy that ran 3:45 and was surprised when I later came across the more common 5:29 version.
Unfortunately, I no longer have that 3:45 copy to double check.
So, I thought I'd throw it out there...has anyone ever seen a 3:45 commercial copy?

Yes as Ed has pointed out, his 45 incorrectly states the running time as 5:29 when it actually runs about 3:52. Now the question is, could there really be a 45 that states 5:29 and runs 5:29? Paul does your 45 really run 5:29?

Pat, the commercial copy that Record Research has states 5:29 and indeed runs 5:29.
I gave my old personal copy (which I no longer have) some more thought and seem to remember the label stating 5:29, but running in the 3:50 range (which would match Ed's copy and was the version played on radio in 1979).

I have a 45 copy of "I Want You Tonight" that both states and runs
5:29. The inner ring writing is AMO2195-A-SM2 A&M (LONG).

In Paul Haney's original post, he askes if anyone has ever seen a (3:45) commercial 45 copy. Well, my commercial 45 of this song does happen to have a listed time of (3:45), but it, in fact, has a much longer actual time, of (5:26). FYI, my 45's deadwax info is "AM02195-A", followed by a dot, then "A&M P1".

I just wanted to be clear on this. In the database, Pat has both available
versions listed at 5:27 and designated as LP versions. Is the official 45
version the 3:50 version, or is there another difference between the 5:29
long 45 version and the LP versions? And is the 3:50 version an edit, or are
there mix differences as well?

My US vinyl LP data: title "Part Of The Game" (A&M 3719, listed 5:29/actual time 5:28)
My US commercial 45 data: the matrix # etched on the run-out groove "Am02195-A-A&m P2" (A&M 2195, listed 5:29/actual 5:24)
The 45 is :04 early fade of the LP. The long 45 doesn't have mix differences.

Thanks for the info. I guess it would be best to have both versions.

Does anyone know the edit points to turn the LP version / long 45 version into the DJ version?
