I have this on a TM Century GoldDisc, and they label it as "Edit." I'm 100%
certain this was issued on a promo CD, but I don't have details.

It was issued as a promo CD single--I have it. I'll try to dig it out tonight when I get home.

What are the edit points, assuming the edit can be made
from the album version?

Good news/bad news. Read on...
I (mostly) reproduced the edit, using the timings from the promo CD single. The actual timing on the full-length Elemental may differ by a little bit.
Delete first 16 beats from 0:00 to 0:09.2 of the LP version.
Segment 1
21 beats long
Ends on a snare
Extends from 0:09.2 to 0:20.7 of the LP version
Extends from 0:00 to 0:11.6 of the Edit
Delete the 8 beats from 0:20.7 to 0:25.1 of the LP version.
Segment 2
Begins on a snare
Ends on a snare on the word "it"
Extends from 0:25.1 to 2:37.2 of the LP version
Extends from 0:11.6 to 2:23.7 of the Edit
Segment 3
Is a cross-faded section * (see below)
6 beats long
Begins on a snare on the word "it"
Ends on a snare
Extends from 2:23.7 to 2:27.0 of the Edit
Faded-out portion: Extends from 2:37.2 to 2:40.6 of the LP version
Faded-in portion: Extends from 2:59.2 to 3:02.6 of the LP version
Segment 4
Begins on a snare
Ends on a downbeat that starts the word "break"
Extends from 3:02.6 to 3:58.2 of the LP version
Extends from 2:27.0 to 3:22.5 of the Edit
Delete the 8 beats from 3:58.2 to 4:02.6 of the LP version.
Segment 5
Begins on a downbeat that starts the word "break"
Extends to end of song
Extends from 3:22.5 to about 3:51 (end of song) of the Edit; last note is at 3:49
Extends from 4:02.6 to about 4:31 (end of song) of the LP version; last note is at 4:29
Your mixdown will run 3:51, with hard edits at 0:11.6 and 3:22.5, and a cross-fade from 2:23.7 to 2:27.0.
I played with the cross-fade a bit. As a practical matter, you can probably fake it by deleting 40 beats, starting on the downbeat right at the end of the word "again" (on the last beat that starts the breakdown, so that the end of the word "again" is partially cut off), and picking up on the downbeat that starts the keyboard part that mimics the "break it down again" melody. But doing so means that you won't hear a faint crash cymbal on the snare that starts the word "again", and you'll delete the end of the word "again". The cross-fade is not easy to duplicate.
