I understand that the 45 version is unique and cannot be created from the LP version. Can someone in the know point out the unique aspects of the 45?

Different performance entirely and on No LP or CD. You must get a Swirl label 45 to get it. Unique mono mix.

I'd love to find a clean 45. I do have one, and had a heck
of a time cleaning it up to something acceptable.

Some of the Hollywood-pressed DJ 45s were already appearing on the then-new red/orange target label.

My promo copy is on that label as well...I just figured it was a reservice a couple months after the original release in an attempt to "goose" airplay a bit. ISTR playing the yellowish-green promo during the song's chart run. Still only mono though.

I've always thought so too, Steve. The pictured promo copy came from the KOMA basement, where it had been dutifully filed away in a new heavy duty green sleeve but never played.

I have two promo copies on the yellow/green promo label, one is near mint, the other has seen its share of airtime on a Baltimore station...I'd never seen the target promo before.

I dug up two Promo 45 singles of this at work. One was a Yellow/Greenish label and very noisy and cueburned. Second one was on this original oval logo Target label and played but nice condition. Big thing I was getting at was all of the Starline issues I have seen were in Stereo. I also have a Starline single which is Stereo and a different vocal take. The oval logo Target was definitely a re-service and our copy has a 12-5-1969 date stamped on it. It was found in the WFLI 1070 record archive (wife and twin brother own it and it was a Chattanooga, TN Top 40 50,000 watt powerhouse).

Which thickens the plot a bit since the target label only briefly used the oval Capitol logo. It was replaced with the round logo sometime in the summer of '69.

That old Yellowish Green promo was well worn and apparently the old Program Director asked for extra copies if I am betting and got one. And the date stamped would have been the day it arrived. WFLI didn't cart it's music then.
