We certainly are... And it seems to be getting worse by the day. Pat, is there anything that can be done to help protect the website from these annoying spam bombers?

I've also noticed as of this posting there have been 38 new registered members on the board in just the past four days alone and most of them look like they're trying to solicit products on other websites. As this website gains in popularity, so too does our visibility in the spam universe.

Guys, I've noticed in the past a deterrant to "spam-bots" that Yahoo Groups uses. It's a combination of upper/lower case letters and numbers, in a "funky" font that the bots can't translate/decipher, but us humans can. Yahoo requires a successful key-in of this 4-6 character string before you can join a group, to combat this exact problem. Perhaps Pat's programmer is familiar with this anti-spam-bot technique, and can require something similar to it in order to join Pat's Chat Board?

Do all new bulletin board members have to be approved by Pat? Making that so might be a solution to the problem.

Have also noticed at times recently it takes longer than usual to have the site pop up. Sometimes, logging in to the database is slower than normal. Not sure if it's related to the rash of spam bots.

Looks as though the last couple weeks the spambots are active again on the site.
