I've discovered some things regarding Nicki French's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" on CD...

Commercial single copies all feature the 7" Edit running 3:49 as the A-side or lead track. I have it on my Promo Only: Mainstream Radio CD series. Does anyone know if this single version exists on a domestic CD release? The reason I ask is because I have French's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" on the following CDs:

Hot Luv (EMI-Capitol Music Group 54547)
Club Mix - Women of Dance Vol. 2 (Cold Front 3865)
Disco Queens: The '90s (Rhino 72839)

I went back and listened to each of these discs and have determined they all contain the "Radio Edit" version found on Track 2 of the commercial CD single release. I'm pretty sure the Radio Edit, which is a different mix than the 7" Edit, is also on promo CD copies although I don't have one to verify. By the way, it should be noted for Disco Queens: The '90s (Rhino 72839) that the run time is incorrectly listed in the 10th edition at (4:14). The correct time is (3:51), which is how long the Radio Edit runs on the CD single.

Meanwhile, does anyone have Nicki French's Secrets CD on Critique 15436? If so, which version appears on this disc? Is it the same as the 7" edit or radio edit, or is it a different version or mix altogether?

You mean a full-length domestic CD? Because it was on the two-track commercial CD single, of course.

Yes, a full-length domestic CD. I'm wondering if any of the CD titles listed in the 10th edition of T40MOCD contain the commercial single version (a.k.a. the 7" Edit) of Nicki French's "Total Eclipse of the Heart".

I remember playing the promo CD single back in the day, and I seem to recall that it had 3 mixes. 1) 7" Edit 2) Radio Edit and 3) Extended? Can't remember for sure the last one, but we played both tracks 1 & 2.

Just found a copy of the promo on ebay, and I'm correct about the mixes. Also, The Power(Razor & Tie 89061) has the 7" Edit on it, as well as the soundtrack to Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle. I listened to some song samples online, and there are a number of CDs that sound like they have the 7" Edit and all have run times around 3:51.

my commercial cassingle states the version as the "7 inch edit" with a listed and actual run time of 3:49...i only mention this because the db has many "45 versions" running around 3:44-3:45 in length....
