There are at least three promo CDs for "Thong Song," maybe more. I have two discs, both without artwork, and the case and inserts only for a third promo CD. (One of the discs was in the wrong case when I inherited it...)
DEFR 15014-2
1. Radio Edit (printed 3:58; actual 4:05)
2. Instrumental (4:03)
3. Call Out Hook
DEFR 15064-2 (I only have the case for this one)
1. Mainstream Radio Edit (3:54)
2. Mainstream Dance Edit (4:28)
3. Instrumental (4:11)
4. Club Version (3:45)
5. Call Out Hook
6. ID Drop
My third promo CD is the "Thong Song Remix" featuring Foxy Brown. If anyone is interested, I'll post the details.
Finally, the Promo Only Mainstream Radio issue for April 2000 has a version that also runs 4:05, but it includes an instrumental intro and skips the talking part at the beginning. (The instrumental section used is the portion from about 0:16 to 0:32 and then cuts to the first verse.) I was temporarily not working in top 40 radio when this song was a hit, but I seem to recall the station in my area (which I started working for a few months later) played this version with the instrumental intro. Was this on an official promo CD?

I'm pretty sure it was...we switched to that version a couple weeks into the song's chart run because we thought the spoken part was lame. While we did receive Promo Only samplers, I'm fairly certain we were serviced this version from the label. It may have been on a CD-R though...quite often "revised" versions of songs came that way.

Hi, my first post.
The mix on the Promo Only disc was done by radio station KDWB and was sent to to us on CD-R just as Hykker mentions.
