My U.S. commercial 45 of 'Gee, But It's Lonely' by Pat Boone (Dot 15825) states the run time as (2:17), but I timed it at (2:04).

Does your 45 contain more reverb on his vocal than that of the stereo versions
floating around (mine is from the Varese "More Greatest Hits Original Dot
Recordings")? I have a mono version, source unknown, that does. The
question then becomes, when it was first mixed to stereo, in 1959 I think, was
the reverb missing or present?

This song appears on only 2 compact discs. The Varese cd features it in stereo and the Reader's Digest cd features it in mono and both appear to be identical with regards to the reverb. However the 45 does appear to have a little additional reverb that does not appear on either cd. What is the parent album for this song? From what I can tell it was Pat's Great Hits Volume 2 which featured rerecorded stereo versions but the Varese stereo cd features the hit version in stereo and includes 1 extra "guess I'll Go On Home" on the fadeout of the song that does not appear on the 45 or Reader's Digest cd.

The parent LP for this track is the 1959 LP "Pat Boone Sings". Later in
1959, it appeared on "Pat's Great Hits Volume 2" (essentially a reissue of
the former). Both were issued in stereo. "Gee.." on these LPs was the
original according to BSN.

An interesting tidbit (I think I read this on BSN years ago, but not sure):

The following 15 songs which had previously been released on mono Dot
45s were re-recorded in stereo at a session which took place in March
1959. The 15 stereo remakes are: I Almost Lost My Mind* / Don't Forbid
Me* / Love Letters In The Sand* / Why Baby Why* / Bernadine* / There's A
Gold Mine In The Sky* / I'm In Love With You* / Friendly Persuasion* /
Chains Of Love* / I'm Waiting Just For You* / Anastasia* / Remember You're
Mine* / A Wonderful Time Up There** / It's Too Soon To Know** / That's
How Much I Love You**. For some peculiar reason known only to Dot, the
first 12 of these stereo remakes were allocated the same master numbers
as the mono originals. As a result of that brain snap, the world was
deprived of the correct hit versions of these Pat Boone songs on
compilations until the coming of the CD age when researchers finally
unraveled the mystery

* released on LP "Pat's Great Hits" in 1959; ** released on LP "Pat Boone
Sings" in 1959
