my commercial 45 for the four tops song 'something about
you' issued as motown 1084 states the run time on the label
as 2:48 but actually runs 2:45....you'll need to pitch up
the mono cd version on the 'ultimate' cd to match the vinyl
45's speed....the etching in the run out groove is 'HLV-
157317'...then machine stamped...'SK4M-2686-1-C'...the db
states the 45's run time is 2:48...this conflicts with my
vinyl 45....

My copy runs (2:46), is a dj copy and the matrix number matches yours except my copy is 2686-1-B.

Every stereo version of this that I have has a tape flaw at about 0:50. Does
anyone have a version without the flaw?

All the stereo versions I have on CD have the dropout in the left channel around 0:50.
It's on Compact Command Performances (1984) and the 1986 2-CD Anthology, which use different analog transfers. As a result, I believe that the glitch would be found on the low-generation two-track mixdown tape, and didn't originate with one particular CD mastering.
