I only have one CD with this song--the comp album Money For Nothing. It's listed as a remix on the CD jacket. Was this remix what was on the 45 (it bubbled under the Hot 100 in 1983)?
Thanks!

To Doug:
No.
I don't think the original E.P. mix (which was the same as my 45) was ever issued on CD in the US. Does anyone out there know for sure?

The EP mix has not surfaced on a CD at present.

I was just going through my Dire Straits library with a fine-tooth comb and I noticed that I have two slightly different versions of Twisting By The Pool on CD. The first appears on Money For Nothing and is listed on the sleeve as a remix, as Doug mentions in his initial post. The second appears on a U.K. CD called Sultans Of Swing - The Very Best Of Dire Straits. It runs the same length as the remix but sounds slightly less polished. There is no mention on the sleeve or in the booklet about it being a remix. There are also some minor vocal/lyric differences, such as at 3:19 where Mark Knopfler sings "I'm a twisting fool, you got me twisting by the pool...". Whereas, on the remix at the same point, he sings "Twisting by the pool, I'm a twisting fool just twisting...".
I always thought that the remix version on Money For Nothing was the version of this song until I read the posts above. Can anyone who is familiar with the original version of Twisting By The Pool confirm if the version I've described matches what was on the original 45?

For reference, here's a YouTube post of what Duane is talking about:

To 'sriv94' & 'Bwci Bo':
Yes, that YouTube clip is the single version (except that clip was mono; single was stereo).

Andy: I can confirm that the track is stereo on the aforementioned CD.
Out of interest, which version of Twisting By The Pool appears on the U.S. edition of Sultans Of Swing - The Very Best Of Dire Straits?
