My commercial 45, confirmed as Tamla 54111, has both a listed & actual
time of (2:05). Deadwax info begins with a handwritten "WXL-114312",
followed by a machine-stamped "S4KM-0728-1 E". 9 of the 12 current
db CDs that include this song do have run times very close to my 45's
length, at between (2:04) and (2:07), including the Complete Motown
Singles "original version". However, the other 3 db CDs run either (2:09)
or (2:10), including the Complete Motown Singles set's "2nd version".
I do happen to own a 1965 promo 45 for this song as well. It also has a
listed & actual time of (2:05), and has the same exact deadwax as my
stock copy, exact that it omits the final "E".
So, at this point, it would seem as if the longer, (2:10)-ish "2nd version" is
rarer, and that the shorter "original version" seems to be much more
common, at least based on my stock & promo copies. If anyone owns the
longer length 45 version of Tamla 54111, particulars for it would be much
appreciated.
