Its pretty clear that the edit of the album version is the released single timing in at 4:55 and this is the hit version.
However I don't recall ever hearing the Classic Radio Mix or its edit which was on a United States promo disc:
A&M Records- 31458 8398 2
1-When We Dance (Classic Radio Mix Edit)
2-When We Dance (Classic Radio)
3-When We Dance (Full Length Classic Radio)
I also found it interesting that that When We Dance has a short edit of the album edit, timing in at 4:20 on a German promo disc:
A&M Records- 588 356-2
1-When We Dance (Short Edit)
2-When We Dance (Edit)
3-When We Dance (LP Version)
If anyone has these or can shed some light on if radio ever played the classic radio mix or the edits of either the LP edit or the Classic Radio mix much appreciated.

Here are the timing details for 31458 8398 2:
1. Classic Radio With Edit (listed & actual 4:27)
2. Classic Radio (listed 5:05; actual 5:06)
3. Full Length Classic Radio (listed & actual 5:39)
Also, here are the details for the other US promo CD I have:
31458 8354 2
1. Edit (listed 4:55; actual 4:56)
2. LP Version (listed & actual 5:57)
I have very few non-US promo CD singles, and I doubt those made their way to US stations very often, especially back then. Unless another US promo CD exists with a shorter edit, I'd venture to guess that a majority of the airplay went to the 4:55 Edit on the 2-track US promo CD. I don't recall hearing the Classic Radio mixes on the air, but possibly some stations aired them.

Were those remixes uptempo? I seem to recall one of the key remixers
of the 90s — David Morales, maybe? — who dubbed a lot of his work Classic mixes. Any relation?

Nope, they are the same tempo as the original mix. I didn't do a
comparison, but it was obvious from the intro that there is
added/different instrumentation on the remix.
