Hey all,
does anyone have a vinyl or import CD single of Michael Jackson's "In the Closet" with "The Newark mix" on it? It's the only mix of the song I don't have, and I'm trying to find out if it's a house mix or a freestyle mix. Any info would be much appreciated.

I own it, but I don't really know what "freestyle mix" means. It's definitely not house. It's a very sparse mix. I can email you a sample, but only a sample -- I just have dial-up, so it takes me like an hour to email one MP3. PM me if you want me to send you one.
Have you ever heard the "Radio Edit" remix (as opposed to 7" edit)? The Radio Edit is an edit of the Newark Mix. The longer version has the spoken intro, whereas the Radio Edit does not.

Thanks Brian. You totally answered my question. On the numerous 12" singles and CD singles, there are a couple of versions with the word "freestyle" in the title of the mix, and that's exactly what types of versions they are--sparse, with that thin, clunky beat. I have enough of them to get by, so I won't be hunting down that verions.
Ironically, NONE of the numerous singles I have has the remix radio edit!
