you guys are always great at answering these 45 v lp questions so let me pose another: i notice that the 45 version of "rhiannon" is out on a couple of fleetwood mac re-issues, and that inspired me to find my 45 and give a listen... i was surprised how different the 45 sounds, but i guess over the years you get accustomed to the lp version... there's almost too many things going on to distinguish all of them! can anyone shed some light on this for me?
thanks...

The mix sounds brighter, there's a guitar overdub after the first "Rhiannon" refrain (at least I think it's an overdub), and there's an edit at about the (3:19) mark. There may be others.
I'm judging by the version on the Rhino Very Best Of, which I'm assuming is correct.

The single version is actually a different mix overall.
- The guitars have additional layers not heard on the LP Version and have been treated with generous reverb.
- Stevie Nicks harmonizes with herself on several lines near the end on the Single Version that are single tracked on the LP.
- There is an additional line of electric guitar dubbed on top of the track.
- There is an edit removing a guitar solo heard towards the end of the LP version, but if you paste this part into the single version (as I have done for compilations) you notice that the 45 actually has a longer fade featuring more of the "Dreams unwind and love's a state of mind" vocal. This lyric is heard near the end of the fade on the LP, but begins at full volume on the single.

one other thing perhaps: the 45 version sounds slightly sped up (surprise), thus maybe accounting for at least part of the time difference...

I hadn't heard the 45 version until today. The radio stations only play the lp
version. I hadn't heard the 45 in years.
