My commercial 45, which is stereo, has a listed time of (4:15), but an actual time of (4:20).

Jim, was there ever a promo edit for this to your knowledge? For some reason, I seem to recall WLS in Chicago playing a shorter version that edited from the first verse to the second "neither one of us" line.
Could be they just edited the song when carting it. Or my memory could be playing tricks on me.

Doug, I just pulled out both of my mono/stereo promo 45 copies for you. The two copies have totally different deadwax from each other, so I just timed all four of the sides for you, just to be doubly sure of no timing "shenanigans." All, do, in fact, have a listed time of (4:15), and an actual time of (4:20), just as my commercial 45 does. I don't think your memory is playing tricks on you, however. There could have always been still another DJ 45 issued, featuring a shorter DJ version, but I kinda doubt it. Because if there was, I know most Top 40 stations would've opted to play a shorter version, and I never heard one in my neck of the woods. I think this has "WLS in-house edit" written all over it, my friend!

Thank you, sir, for quadruple checking. I'd vote for in-house edit as well.
