For all of you hard-core New Kids On The Block fans, here are instructions on creating the 45 edit from the LP version of "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)":

The LP version is available on
  • Hangin' Tough (Columbia CK 40985, 1988)
  • Body Talk - Heart And Soul (Time-Life R834-20, 1998; digitally exactly 1.5 dB louder than Hangin' Tough, and my choice as the best-sounding version)
  • Sounds Of The Eighties - 1989 (Time-Life R988-13, 1995; different EQ from above two)
Starting with the LP version:

Keep 0:00.0-2:55.7 of the LP version.
Edit out the 32 beats from 2:55.7-3:24.2, beginning with the start of the drum fills.
Keep 3:24.2-4:27.2 (end) of LP version.

The resulting edited version runs 3:58.

The 45 edit is available on Rhino's Like Omigod box set, but it's mastered too loud and clips quite a bit.

I also seem to remember a 3" CD for this song, back from 1989.

Yeah, I have the 3" domestic single. It came in a card sleeve.

Thought people might like to have a scan of the rare US commercial CD single for this. It was a CD3. (Well, I was GOING to upload it, but I can't get it to display for some reason.)
