I have a version that runs 4:41 on Hot Hits - Pop - Vol. 14. I also have a version on Top Hits USA RH14 that runs 4:04; there's no designation of "edit" or anything on this version.

I though one would be a simple edit of the other, but in the short 4:04 version, there are 8 instrumental beats before the a cappella ending that have vocals on top of it in the 4:41 version. No can do.

For the record, does anyone have the promo CD info for this song?

I have the cd maxi - here's what's on it

1. 7" edit (3:59)- my cd player states 4:03
2. jeep edit (3:59) - 4:05
3. 12" mix (6:43) - 6:44
4. jeep 12" (6:43) - 6:45
5. original version (4:40) - 4:41

I'm guessing you're referencing cuts 1 and 5, from this cd.

Ron, we got in two different promo CD singles for this song. One of them appears to be almost identical, track-wise, to the commercial CD single info that Steve Sharp has already posted above, but since mine happens to be a promo, I have opted to still include this now-mostly-redundant info one more time, just for the record:

Cover Gitls-"Wishing On A Star" (ESK 74343)
1-(non-described version) (listed 3:56; actual 4:05)

Cover Girls-"Wishing On A Star" (ESK 4652)
1-7" Edit (listed 3:59; actual 4:00)
2-Jeep Edit (listed 3:59; actual 4:01)
3-12" Mix (listed 6:43; actual 6:42)
4-Jeep 12" (listed & actual 6:43)
5-Original Version (listed 4:40; actual 4:41)

Wow Jim that is interesting because my dj cd single is Epic ESK 74343 and features a non described version that runs (4:05) not (3:56) as stated on the label (matrix number DISP 001504).

Pat, I just re-checked my notes from all the posts I typed in last night, and I had mistakenly typed in the time info from the song just above "Wishing On A Star" on my list (Achy Breaky Heart), which accounted for the listed/actual (3:23) info. My "Wishing On A Star" notes do exactly confirm your "listed 3:56; actual 4:05" timing info, and I have corrected my original post - my apologies. Thanks, Pat!

So now which version does everyone consider the commercial "45 version"?

my 1992 commercial cassingle (THE single format at the time) issued as epic 74343 does not state a version nor running time on either the cassingles' face or the cardboard sleeve but does run 4:41 and is identical to all the 4:41 cd entries in the db.....the single version is the 4:41 version because that's what was/is on the cassingle.....

My U.S. commercial 7-inch single also runs 4:41.
