It appears that the hit version, and the only version I ever heard or played on the radio, is a different mix from the version found on the 1991 Fear CD. It's obvious from the opening drum part that something's not quite right...

I have the hit mix on Hot Hits Vol. 14, Spotlight On Hits Vol. 8 (digitally exactly 1.458 dB louder than Hot Hits), and Top Hits USA RH14, where it's not given any special designation.

Was there a promo CD single with any other than the album mix?

Interesting! I didn't even know there WAS a single version until I listened to my wife's copy of Fear, a mere 16 years after the fact...

Thanks, Ed!

If I'm not mistaken, the remix on PS (A Toad Retrospective) is actually the single mix. Sure sounds like it.

Has anyone verified for certain that the version on the PS (A Toad Retrospective) CD is the 45 version? If so, nice discovery, John!

Yes, I'm sure that the remix is on that disc. The database also shows "45 version" for that disc, so it looks like we're up to date!
