This just missed the Top 40 at #41, but it was a #28 seller, and RIAA certified Gold. Has this ever appeared on CD anywhere, any sports compilation or promotional Chicago Bears CD maybe?

When you mentioned it, I went ahead and Googled it. Apparently the Chicago Tribune has repackaged their chronicle of the 1985 Bears, and included the CD of "The Super Bowl Shuffle" as a bonus.
It's gettable through Amazon.com. I wouldn't mind picking that up myself. And maybe the 2005 version can duplicate the 1985 version (at least the final result :-) ).

Thanks for the tip on this, Doug. I got the book from Amazon, and the CD does appear to be the original version (though I have nothing to compare it to except vague memory).
But they may have faded it out five seconds early to get rid of tape hiss at the end of the song... Whitburn lists 5:50, it runs an actual 5:45. I start to hear a little hiss on the beginning of the fadeout, then it sounds like it's "helped along"... which is common, but five seconds is a bit much.
Too bad they didn't include the single's instrumental B-side. But I think this was the lone million-selling single that wasn't available on CD at all, so I'm glad to have it.
