The TM library has a version of "Say A Prayer" labeled as "Fade." The run time is about 10 seconds shorter than the full version. This makes me curious to know if a promo CD single contains a slightly shorter version. Can anyone supply the details?

I've long wondered if a shorter radio edit/length of Breathe's "Say a Prayer" exists on a promo single. I'd also be interested to know if the commercial single consists of the album version or a remix.

Aaron & Todd, here is my promo CD single's details:
-Breathe-"Say A Prayer" (75021 8108 2)
1-LP Version (listed 3:50; actual 3:49)
2-Remix (listed & actual 3:57)
3-Save My Soul 7" (listed 4:01; actual 4:00)
4-Oh Mercy! House 7" (listed 3:53; actual 3:52)
5-Save My Soul 12" (listed 6:32; actual 6:30)
6-Oh Mercy! House 12" (listed 6:32; actual 6:31)
Aaron, none of the six tracks on my promo includes the exact word "fade" anywhere in its title. Also, the LP Version (which I'm assuming is the "full version" you describe above) is actually the shortest of the 6 included tracks, time-wise. So, either there was a second promo CD single issued for this song back in 1990, or the TM Library version you own is an exclusive version to that series. And, Todd, my apologies to you: I don't happen to own a commercial CD single for "Say A Prayer", so I can't provide your requested details.

Thanks to Jim I was able to hear the "Remix" of "Say A Prayer." This is a drastic remix with a completely new rhythm track, giving it a more dance feel. Again, Jim, I appreciate your details on the promo CD single.

My Peace Of Mind CD includes the 3:57 remix along with the normal 3:49 version (the database doesn't mention this). This is the version I heard on Atlanta radio in 1990. Can't confirm which of these versions appears on the commercial single, but Whitburn does list the Save My Soul 7" version as the B-side of the cassette single.

The cassette single does indeed have the LP version as the A-side and the Save My Soul 7" version as the B-side. I don't remember hearing this on the radio back in the fall of '90, but I have a Countdown America with Dick Clark recording from then and Dick plays the Save My Soul 7" version.

I recall hearing both versions on the
radio. In fact, I think I may have heard
the remix more than the album version. But
of course that all depends on where you
lived and what station played which
version. I guess the general consensus is
that the Album Version is the hit version.
