Came across a claim on YouTube that the 45 is a different vocal take than
the stereo. I compared the first minute or so, and couldn't detect any
differences, so I asked the guy who claimed this to point out a difference.
Well, he did!
If I listen from about 2:44 (in my mono version) and 2:47 (in my stereo
version) where he sings "Sweet, baby sweet", it is indeed different.
Note, my stereo version is from Rhino "Billboard Top Country Hits 1961"
and my mono from Time-Life "Country U.S.A. 1961".
Now, I think most of the two are the same - perhaps it is the same vocal
take with a couple of changes flown in to one or the other? Or, perhaps
they are indeed two different takes, but sung SO close.
Comments? Either way, another version distinction seems to have been
unearthed.
