In 1983, an extended version of I'm Still Standing running 3:46 was released on vinyl.
I've been looking for a digital release from tape of this version and have so far come up empty. I don't find it on CD and I don't find it on the digital services.
(There was an unofficial "extended re-mix" released in 2010 on Big 12 Inches vol. 5 from Hong Kong; this isn't what I'm looking for.)
Does anybody know of a digital source for a copy of the original tape of this extended version?

I can tell you with 100% certainty that this has never been
released in any digital format. Which really surprises me.

Is it a longer fade of the LP version?

I just listened to it on YouTube. It has a unique intro that adds about 45
seconds of instrumental on the beginning. I was listening on my phone, so I
couldn’t tell if the rest of the song was the same as the original mix, but
nothing stood out as wildly different.

Thanks, Aaron.
Yeah, I just did a search on YouTube and found it. You're
right, it does sound like a 45 second breakdown tacked on
to the intro of the LP/45 version.

One of my favorite EJ songs, but there seems to be a lot of distortion on it. Intentional?

Where are you hearing distortion?

Just listening to the original Too Low for Zero CD mastering, the lead vocal is distorted in a lot of places. For example, start at 1:24... the bold text is distorted:
no, I'm still standin' better than I ever did
lookin' like a true survivor
feelin' like a little kid
I'm still standin' after all this time
pickin' up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
I'm still standin'
...
The guitar solo has some random noises at 2:04 to 2:10. Sounds like someone rustling some papers.
There's lots more. I doubt it's intentional, but it seems to be baked in.
I just checked what purports to be the 1998 remaster on on YouTube and it's about the same, maybe not quite as dramatic, but I still hear it.

Is the only difference between the 12" and the regular version is the 45-
second intro which is unique to that version? After that, it goes into the regular
song and even fades the same?

I think so. I am very surprised it never made CD (not that I am aware of). Considering Elton's vast catalog being available I don't recall ever seeing it on any official disc, comp or va collection.
I'm not sure if this is official or not. It doesn't sound like it is from vinyl though DJ Paul T from Burning The Ground did a dub many years ago of it.

Attempting to edit the LP version onto the vinyl 12" mix, I have come to the conclusion that the 12" either is a remix, or has added instrumentation, because the rhythm section is subtly more "jumpy" in the 12" mix vs. the more straight-ahead rhythm track on the LP version.
However, the sound quality of all the dubs I've found so far has been so terrible that I'm still creating my franken-mix of the first 45 seconds of vinyl followed by the CD because I don't think my audience is likely to notice and the quality is so much better.
This one REALLY needs a digital release from the master tapes!
(Has the source LP, "Too Low For Zero," ever gotten a 24 bit / 96 kHz release? That would be really nice, too. The CD I'm using actually fades on the right channel a hair before the left channel at the end of "I'm Still Standing.")

I'm listening to the dub from DJ Paul T, and it sounds like the LP version spliced in after the intro (or perhaps the extended version is the full take where the intro was edited down for the LP). I don't hear any mix differences. The YT link in Rich's last post has a pretty drastic smiley-face EQ applied, making it sound quite a bit different from the (presumably) un-EQ'd dub I have from DJ Paul T.
