There is an edit of Donna Summer - Love Has A Mind Of Its
Own in the archives that clocks in around 3:40. The 3 U.S.
45s listed on Discogs (one looks like a duplicate) all
state the LP duration of 4:16 (could be an entry error).
If anyone has this 45 (commercial or promo) can you tell
if there is an edit and if so what is the catalog number?

Discogs has two listings for a promo 45 that list the runtime as 4:16, but there's no photo on either.

Their only listing for the commercial 45 lists a 3:40 runtime on the label:

And 45cat also shows two or three label photos for the commercial 45 and all show a 3:40 runtime.

Finally, 45cat also has a copy of the promo 45 with picture, and someone has included a note that says, "The promo is the 4:16 LP version. The stock copy plays the 3:40 7"edit."

Thank you for the info. Interesting that the promo 45 only
has the LP on both sides and the stock contains the edit.
I wonder if this is a case where both sides of the promo
are labeled 4:16 but one side is the 3:40 edit incorrectly
labeled. It happens occasionally.

My 45RPM single on Mercury 814-922-7 (2-57483LE BW) pressed by Future Disc, states the run time as 3:40 but actually
runs 3:41.8. -Bill.

Also, my CD of "She Works Hard For The Money" says 4:16 and does run that length.
In order to make the single version from that CD, I had to remove 7.1 seconds from
starting at about 1:18. There are no other edits I can hear. Then there is a fade
starting at 3:24 and ending at 3:41. -Bill.

The issue with the edit point is there is an overdub or
some really precise area to make the cut. I've tried to
get it to sound authentic but have not been successful.
I'll probably purchase the stock 45 vs the promo unless
someone can verify what version(s) are on the promo.

There's no overdub. Your edit will match the 45 if the cut is precise.

You have to cut from just before the beginning of the first piano note to the equivalent spot 7 seconds later, when the strings are in the background.
