I found an edit of this song on an in-store sampler called In Play Disc 6, which runs about 4:09 (maybe a second or two longer; endings are truncated on the samplers). I don't know if this was a sanctioned edit or not, but here are instructions for recreating it:
Starting the beat count on the downbeat after "Hey", keep the first 5 beats from 0:00.0-0:09.7.
Edit on snare.
Remove the 8 beats from 0:09.7-0:15.5.
Keep 0:15.5-4:03.0.
Edit on snare.
Remove the 8 beats from 4:03.0-4:08.8; the removed section has the words "so far away/just you and me baby/so close".
Keep the 21 beats from 4:08.8-4:23.9, with a 16-beat fade from 4:12.4-4:23.9.
Your mixdown will run 4:12 and will have edits at 0:09.7 and 3:57.2, and a 16-beat fade from 4:00.8-4:12.4.
My question: Was this edit on a promo CD single?

My promo CD single (ASCD-2086) has the following:
1-Single Edit (listed & actual 4:11)
2-Album Version (listed 4:40; actual 4:39)
3-Unplugged Version (listed 4:51; actual 4:50)
Your creation looks an awful lot to me like cut 1 of my promo CD single, Ron.
