I tired to recreate the 45
version using the Greatest Hits album. The ending to
the 45 is different to the lp version. So it can't be recreated. I came close
but
the ending of Annie say Hey Yeah twice with an instrumental fade is not on
the
original lp.

The longer 45 version is only on the US edition of Greatest Hits (14 tracks).
The international editions (with 18 tracks) have the shorter album version
instead.

I meant the Ultimate Collection and not the Greatest Hits that I used.

The ending here has the hey yeah with instrumental fade but the fade happens
way too early and you can barely hear the hey yeah which is heard in the
promo 45 version below.......

My recreation stops at the 3:31 point since I can't find the hey yeah part at the
end on the album version with the fade.

Anybody know where I can find the true 5:04 LP version of the song? All of the
ones on their CD have been faded early.

The LP version (length), as I understand, fades to the 4:53 mark. The 45 version (length) runs 5:07, while the longest CD versions tend to fade to about 5:04. The last few seconds of the 45 are at an extremely low volume, so I can see why the CDs are faded a bit sooner. I'm not aware of any discs that run 5:07.

Wow... been so long since I've heard this version, that
edit at the beginning sounds abrupt to me.

I ended up with a file 3:49 in length; do I understand correctly from the above
posts that, sourcing from a CD, this is about as close as we can get to the
original 45 length?

Thanks for another great catch!

Yes, the beginning edit is very abrupt. Did you ever get the full edit complete?
