So...if I'm reading this thread correctly...there was (1) a mono/stereo promo single and (2) a stereo-only commercial single in two pressings with different mixes. Yes?

Yes, both got promotionally released, and commercially
released. When the album title changed, and the harmony
vocals got added, the promo got reserviced to radio
stations.

I have two different stock 45s, one mono and one stereo, and neither one has the harmony vocal on the last two choruses (at 2:09 and 3:03).
One of my stock 45s has a machine stamped matrix of M-17780- S -1E. (This is the mono copy.) The other stock 45 also has a machine stamped matrix, but this one is M 17780 S -1 A. (This is the stereo copy.) Again, these both lack the harmony vocal in the last two choruses.
I have a promo 45 that is mono/stereo. Deadwax for the mono is 0974 M-17780-DJ 1B. Deadwax for the stereo side is 0974 M-17780-S 1A. The mono side DOES have the harmony vocal on the last two choruses. The stereo side does NOT have the harmony vocal.
In conclusion, I do not have any stereo copies of the version with the harmony vocal as found on Gord's Gold, but it would seem that at least some 45 copies do have this mix. If you have either a stock copy or promo copy different than mine, can you please post details of what is on it?

In case my question in the post above was missed:
Who has a stereo 45 of the remix with harmony vocals? It has been reported that they exist, but to date, I've only been able to find a stereo 45 without the harmony vocal.

Exactly how many versions of this song (including all versions on vinyl, re-recordings for Gord's Gold, mono, stereo) exist?

At this point, I'm inclined to say no. The promo dead wax reported by
Tom is the same as the copy I have. The mono side has harmony
vocals on the last two choruses, while the stereo does not. I'm also still
not convinced that stock copies contain the harmony vocals. My copies,
Pat's copy, Bill's copy, John's copies, and a few different YouTube dubs
of the 45 are all of the non-harmony version. I'd like to know definitively
that a US stock copy exists (or doesn't) with the harmony vocals,
preferably in stereo, as that's the only mix on CD that is yet to be
matched with a vinyl 45.

All the database entries are stereo. Does that mean they all have the harmony vocals? None of the entries are labeled (except for the remix on Gord's Gold) so I was wondering if any of them differed.

Only Gord's Gold has the harmony vocals in stereo. All other stereo
copies are without the harmony vocals.

It's actually pretty straightforward, but I believe there is some
misinformation in this thread.
Stock copy #1: stereo & matches the LP version (no harmony vocals)
Stock copy #2: mono and quite possibly a fold-down of the stereo (no
harmony vocals)
Promo copy mono side: dedicated mix with harmony vocals
Promo copy stereo side: same as stock copy #1 and LP version (no
harmony vocals)
Gord's Gold: stereo mix with harmony vocals (to my knowledge
appears nowhere else)
I recommended using the stereo LP/45 version, as that seems to be the
most common version on US 45s. Also, I'm fairly confident the mono is
just a fold-down. I haven't compared them note-for-note, but it's not the
same dedicated mix that appears on the promo 45.

I have the digital 45 of this song which I think also has
the harmony vocals. The harmony vocal versions start with
the opening acoustic guitar more centered vs. the non-
harmony versions where the opening guitar is more in the
left channel.
Am I correct on this, sorta? lol.

Spotify has a single of it on there. Not sure what version it is. I truly like the
Gord's Gold version even though that's not the 45 version.

"I just got a copy of the budget Rhino CD "An Introduction to Gordon Lightfoot" and it contains the harmony vocal version of "If You Could Read My Mind" in stereo."
Which was released 6-29-18...

I don't have the "An Introduction To" CD, but the version of "If You Could Read My Mind" on the "Complete Greatest Hits" CD also has the harmony vocals.
To sum up what I have read in this thread you can find the stereo WITH harmony vocals on these three CD releases (all documented above):
Gord's Gold
Complete Greatest Hits
