I've finally had a chance to compare "History" to "Hits." I cannot discern any differences at all in the cuts that appear on both collections.
No mono/stereo differences (most cuts are mono) and brightness, low end, clarity, lack of tape hiss are identical.

I've got a cd that clearly says "made in Germany" simply titled Dave Clark Five Greatest Hits. It's a total of 30 tracks with 17 in stereo. I picked it up a few years ago, knowing it's not an official release, just for the song "You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby." I'm sure it's a bootleg (just like those old Cameo Parkway compilation discs that were out there before the official 2005 ABKCO releases).
