I just picked up yet another Eddie Money best of.
This one is called "Playlist" The Very Best of Eddie Money.
It contains 14 of his hits and it indeed includes the long sought after 45 version of "Two Tickets To Paradise".
Its released via sony legacy.
Unfortunately, its packaged in the lousy "eco-friendly" cardboard. (created by Al Gore?)
There are quiet a few in the series.

EXCELLENT news!

Did you purchase it online, because everyone I've seen indicates out of stock.

This appears to be a series released just 2 days ago.
Other artists I've seen CD images of are:
Heart
Lou Reed
Crash Test Dummies
Ronnie Milsap
Rick Astley
Lonestar
Rick Springfield
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes
Scandal
Cypress Hill
Donovan
Tammy Wynette
Judas Priest
The Bangles

That's great news, bwolfe! However, is the sound quality the usual loud, maximized, and overcompressed "remastering" found on most CDs these days?

And, for what it's worth, I absolutely despise the cheap, flimsy "eco-friendly" cardboard sleeves in which a growing number of CDs are packaged these days. Not only is the cardboard prone to rips, tears, dogears, gouges, etc., but the CD itself becomes FAR more vulnerable to scratches and fingerprints due to the awkward handling required to slide the disc in and out of the sleeve. (In the process, scratches form over time on the CD surface due to it rubbing against the cardboard.) I refuse to buy an "eco-friendly" packaged CD unless it contains a track I absolutely cannot find anywhere else.

Decided to take a late night stroll to one of the 24 hour Wal-Marts in my area. They had some of the Playlist: CD's on sale for 6.99 or so. But, as luck would have it, no Eddie Money.

So, I went to 2 more of the 24 hour Wal-Marts. One of them had none in the series, the other had only 5 or 6, but no Eddie Money.

Will try the one around the corner from me in the morning, as that one is only open 7am-11pm. Smaller store.

The first round of the "Playlist" series was released back on April 29th with mostly country artists.

This latest round, including the Eddie Money, was released on June 17th.

It is quite a nice list of artists available. I also saw one from Korn, Quiet Riot and a couple others not on the previous list.

Paul, the reason I had mentioned July 8th, that was a date I'd seen as a release date at several online retailers as I searched for Eddie Money.

Ed, you may want to try deepdiscount.com

I've had pretty good luck with them when others seem to be backordered or out of stock on certain items.

YES!! After trying my nearby Wal-Mart and FYE Music in our mall, I was able to find it at Best Buy. $11.99. It was in with the regular Eddie Money CD's, whereas Wal-Mart had a separate display. It would have been nice to get it for 6 something at Wal-Mart, but I did find it at Best Buy.

Got my copy at Best Buy yesterday afternoon! After years of hearing the album version on classic rock radio, I'd almost forgotten how much more punchier the single version sounds.

Gives a whole new meaning when Eddie sings the line "waited so long...waited so long":)

Sounds as though Best Buy is your 'best' chance to physically get the CD. If by chance your local Wal-Mart(s) have it, you'd save 6.00 or so.

Makes you wonder how many more single versions are lying around in the Sony vaults.
Love to have "Movin' Out" from Billy Joel without the car sound effects.
Simon and Garfunkel, etc.

What about "Baby Hold On"? LP or 45 version on this new CD? I have the 45 edit from a Rhino 70s comp, but it sounds like a needledrop.

Drew:

Was wondering the same thing myself before I purchased the CD, but the Playlist CD contains the 3:30 LP version of "Baby Hold On."

I saw these CDs in the stores the other day.   They do seem to be including some 45 versions. I noticed the Hall & Oates compilation includes several songs noted as "45 version" including the previously unavailable-on-CD "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" single version. If anyone happens to buy that Hall & Oates CD, please confirm with us if it is indeed the original 45 version and worth buying.
