Hey, that's interesting about the changed lyrics on "Girlfriend." No, we never played any version of this song due to lyrical content. And yes, feel free to ask away. I'll do my best to answer your questions. |

Yep Aaron, the explicit CD back then was not easy to find with the curse, I remember ordering it once I realized that was how she intended the song and it ran me about $25 at an FYE. Avril has even said in interviews that she specifically recorded "clean" versions on purpose for her fans who are younger.
Apparently I was shocked when I heard the clean CD had the lyrics without cursing and the princess line. Not the first time Avril changed lyrics, her 2004 album and Don't Tell Me also has a clean/explicit version to it that you would never know existed if you didn't listen closely.

Does anyone know what was offensive in these 2 songs, that required a Radio Disney edit:
Debelah Morgan Dance With Me (Radio Disney Edit)
Vitamin C Graduation (Friends Forever) (Radio Disney Version)

I'm 100% positive that, at the very least, the lyrics "let's make love"
were changed for the RD version of "Dance With Me." That would've
never passed. This song, however, had come and gone before I started
working there, so I'm not familiar with any other changes that may have
been made.
The Vitamin C song wasn't edited for lyrical content as I remember. It
was a version with sound bites of kids talking about graduating 5th
grade, etc. I seem to recall quite a few local stations making their own
versions with local listeners. If memory serves me, I was tasked with
"updating" the song with new audio to freshen it up. They had been
playing the same one for several years at that point. So, I think there's
more than one version.

Thanks Aaron. I had a feeling the Vitamin C edit would be to put in kids talking.

So apparently there is an RD edit for Sucker by the Jonas Brothers...anyone know where it is for download or on a compilation?

When I worked there, often was the case that you couldn't get the Radio Disney version anywhere except by listening to the radio :( Back when they were releasing compilation CDs, some of those exclusive versions finally were available for purchase.
