To answer David Clark's questions, the LP version of Six Man Band has background vocal overdubs that start at :13 that you will not hear on the 45 version. I had to correct some entires in the database to correct the listings as the true 45 version has yet to appear on CD. With regards to the Platters "Twilight Time", at 1:06 on the stereo LP version you will hear the line "Here in this sweet and same old way" but on the 45 you will hear the lyrics reversed to "Here in this same and sweet old way".

Thanks to David Clark for pointing me back to this thread. Also learned about some other 45's as well by reading the responses!

Jim Croce - OPERATOR (THAT'S NOT THE WAY IT FEELS). Is there a 45 vs. LP difference? |

After getting in a near mint 45, here are my observations in agreement with what Pat and others have said.
1) The 45, which is mono, is drier sounding.
2) The guitar on the 45 is different on the 45 from 1:33-1:35.
Not sure if Jim has timed this particular 45, but mine has a label and actual time of 3:45.
P.S. When I clean up a 45 version in Adobe, I always put 0.5 second lead in on my end result digital file. Your mileage may vary!

The 45 version in stereo is available on the DCC 24-Karat
"Gold In A Bottle" mastered by Steve Hoffman, if you can
find it.

The 45 and mono LP version of "Goin'
Out Of My Head" are a different vocal take than the stereo
LP. The stereo LP version also has "ooh" at 2:11 while
the 45 version does not. |

Hello,
It has been 12 years. Do you, or anyone else know if the
single mix of this song ever showed up in digital form?

That unique mono version is still MIA on CD. Can't get rid of the vinyl yet.
