Well, I can confirm that "Unchain My Heart" is NOT the 45 version. I found an old 45 dub on YouTube, and the sax solo is a little different. Unless we have yet another case of different 45 pressings, which is possible.
Most of the people who have bought this set on the Hoffman board, though, do not feel that these are fold-downs.
"I Can't Stop Loving You" is definitely the true 45 version and certainly sounds like it's from tape.
Does anyone have an original ABC-Paramount 45 of "Georgia On My Mind" that they could send me a dub of? There are some strange phase issues in parts of that song on this new set, and I want to hear what the original 45 sounds like.

Glad to hear about "Unchain My Heart" - I am the one who posted over there about the difference between the new CD and mono Greatest Hits, and have been wondering what was on the original 45. I looked on YouTube at the time but for whatever reason didn't find what you found.

I have finally been able to obtain the Singular Genius box set which has been unavailable for some time. Let me summarixe my perception of the box.....the 45 of "Don't Change Me" runs (3:00) while on the LP "Love Country Style" this song runs (3:23) and my 45 is not the same as the LP version as it is shorter due to an edit and is a different vocal take anyway so why did the LP version get included on this box set?
Previously in this thread Brian notes that the version of "Unchain My Heart" is not the 45 version and I therefore assume that the version on this box is the LP version also. I do not currently have the 45 to verify this but I will take Brian's word as being correct so there is problem number 2.
"Georgia On My Mind" sounds strange with some distortion so I have to wonder about the source used for this track.
Other than those comments the other songs appear to be the true 45 versions and mixes.

Does anyone know when was the first stereo appearance of "Hide 'Nor Hair".
It's one track that doesn't seem to appear on a 1960s LP of the time.

My copy of Georgia On My Mind is a 1973 reissue and has the old logo for Goldies 45. It is mono and clean sounding. Has "Hit The Road Jack" on the flip side. Copyright information is attributed to "1973 Tangerine Records". Likely the last pressing on the ABC label of these two tracks. Ex radio station and not cueburned noticeably. In NM- condition. Sounds quite excellent and not phasey. Sums very well to Mono without artifacts. Is styrene.

I was just able to hear a copy of this from the box set, and the "distortion" is a mis-aligned tape head, whcih causes it to sound swishy throughout.
Since I don't have a 45 copy to compare, I don't know if it matches the 45; however, I folded down a copy of the stereo version, and it's identical to the mono copy on Singular Genius (except that the fold-down is not swishy).

Bumping this up for Poparchivist - There's some
discussion regarding "Don't Change On Me" throughout
this thread.
