I just got an email from Amazon saying
that the release date was pushed back to
September 15th as well. I hope that
doesn't mean there are issues or mistakes.

Got mine in the mail today. Before I rip to wav files,
has anyone compared to the 45's?

I've just done some quick sampling, for the most part. On first listen, I thought "Riders On The Storm" sounded fast, but that didn't prove to be the case: it matched the promo 45 dub I made not long ago. The few others I've listened to thus far appear to be correct, too. I can finally chalk up the odd low frequency bumps and artifacts on "The Unknown Soldier" to the master tape itself, not my vinyl 45 pressing.
Here's the best news: unlike the Japanese singles set from a few years back, this one isn't compressed. Here, the mastering sounds downright flat, with no signs of peak limiting. This set has a lot of breathing room.

I received an email last night that I could auto rip it so I did. All tracks sound correct to me. Better sounding than I have on vinyl, and all sound like
the right versions. The mono "Touch Me has" the lowered "yeah" on the intro just like my mono promo 45 does. And it's slower than the stock 45, like my
promo. You can hear why they did a dedicated mono mix for radio, it helps punch up the horns.
I always liked the single mix of "Wishful Sinful" and it sounds great here. I've never been able to tell if the mono "Wishful" is anything more than a fold
down but somebody else might notice a difference.
And a couple of these mixes I didn't have before so it's a great purchase.

After more careful review, the stereo single mix on this CD of "Wishful Sinful" does not match my stock 45 or the stereo side of my DJ 45. On the
stereo 45's that I have, the drum and bass are straight center, with orchestration to the left and right. On this CD, the bass is center but the
drums are a little off center.
More obviously, after the first chorus, on the stereo 45, there is a section where Morrison sings "Magic.. Rising". During this portion, the
strings are turned off completely and then are slowly faded back in. On this CD, there is a glitchy sounding piece of orchestration on one channel
during "Magic, Rising". I'm not sure where this particular mix came from but it doesn't match anything else that I've heard on this song. Maybe an
early mix or a rejected one?
However, the mono "Wishful Sinful" on the CD DOES match the mix of my DJ mono side.
So for the stereo version on this CD they either couldn't find the stereo single master, there was another 45 that I don't have, they pulled the
wrong tape, or they tried to fudge something close.
Once again, you can't fool this board!

Is the 45 timing for "The Unknown Soldier" correct? Pat's database shows (3:10) is the running time--here it runs about (3:16) but the silence extends to (3:24).

Doug, the actual time on The Singles CD is (3:19), which puts it a hair over eight seconds longer than my stock 45 (3:10, just shy of 3:11.) Perhaps this one runs longer on the Monarch or Columbia Terre Haute pressing(s); mine is a Specialty, on vinyl. There's no speed difference; it's just an earlier fade on the 45.
Interesting that it now takes eight more seconds for "it's all over" to actually be all over. ;)

Thank you, sir. It looks like the fade starts around (3:00), just after Morrison's "Yeah!" vocal, to get it to the proper 45 length (using a promo 45
from YouTube for reference).

It begins at (2:58), although it doesn't really become audible 'til around 3:00 or thereabouts.

I just picked up this set and, for the most part, it's fantastic. Sonically, most
things sound great. The one exception is "People Are Strange" - sounds
muffled. I bet it's a vinyl transfer. Just my guess. I featured the set on my
radio show today, and when I played "People" is did not sound good on the air.
We try and play the true single versions of everything in rotation (1955-79),
but may have to hunt out another source for this one.
On a positive, it's cool to hear "Touch Me" without the Ajax reference at the
end.
Sorry I haven't been here in awhile, just been crazy busy!

The second CD with the mono 45 versions of "Hello, I
Love You", "Tell All The People" and "Touch Me" are a
real nice addition for all of us wanting the hit
versions of classic Doors.

Is there also a stereo single mix of "Touch Me" on this set?

Glad I ordered this set. So nice to see the levels
aren't brickwalled.
Only think I had to do was fade "Love Her Madly" to the
45 length as it runs longer than 2:41 on this set.
