The actual commercial 45 run time of James Taylor's "You've Got a Friend" is 4:26. (Timing info courtesy of Jim. There is no printed record label time.) The reason I post this is because database CD run times range from 4:20 to 4:29.

It turns out there are multiple commercial 45 pressings of James Taylor's "You've Got a Friend", so the database title notes can be amended as:

(Some commercial 45 copies run 4:26, while others have an actual run time of 4:27, not 4:29 as stated on the record label.)

(**Edit:** I somehow originally misread the printed time as 4:20. Therefore, given that there's only a two second difference between the actual and printed 45 time, no database title notes update is necessary here.)

"You've Got a Friend" comes from James Taylor's 1971 parent vinyl LP Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon, in which the actual LP run time is 4:27 (printed time: 4:29).

What's interesting about this, however, is that the CD version of this album on Warner Bros. 2561 is currently shown in the database with a run time of 4:20, which is at least :06 shorter than all other CD appearances! All things considered, I highly suspect that this 4:20 time is a typo, unless something in the song was edited in some way for the CD release (which would be highly bizarre, to say the least). So if anyone has a copy of the Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon disc who can confirm the correct run time, it would be very much appreciated!

All seven pressing variations of the US 45 listed on Discogs either show 4:29 or no printed time. I can't find one that has a printed time of 4:20.

I only have a reissue 45 with a stated time of (4:29) so I
assume the comment of a running time of (4:20) was a typo.

I think you're probably right, Pat. Also, I have a copy of Mus Slide Slim, and the track runs 4:27 on that disc. I already updated the database with the correct run time.

Sorry, Aaron. You're absolutely right. I had the printed time incorrectly stated in my notes. I've gone back and corrected my original post. Thanks!
