Abagon reports the actual commercial 45 run time of the Boys' "Dial My Heart" is 4:22, not 4:25 as stated on the record label.

The commercial Cassette Single has a version titled, "Heart Version Edit". There's no notation on Discogs about its running time, and I'm curious if it's a different version than what's on the 45. The label of the 45 doesn't specify a particular version, so I assume it's the album version. No Promo CD Single listing on Discogs, but one does exist, as reported on the 1989 Top 40 Hits on Promo CD Singles thread.
Also interesting is that all the US Vinyl LP listings on Discogs have the song's running time listed as 4:25, but the lone US CD listing has it at 4:17, so it's possible the CD may fade out earlier or possibly be a different mix.

I checked YouTube and the "Heart Version" is definitely a remix.
Dial My Heart (12" Heart Version)
But to create the "Heart Version Edit" on the Cassette Single, the edit points would still be unknown unless someone has it and can inform us where they are.
However, there is a CD Single from Germany whose title specifically says "Remixes", and Track 1 is the "12' Heart Version" (listed 6:37) and Track 2 is "7' Edit" (listed 4:16), so I'm thinking that may be the Cassette Single Version.
The Boys - Dial My Heart (12 Inch Remixes)
So if the 7" Edit does run 4:16, and the version on the US CD of the album runs 4:17 as listed, it's possible they may be the same version, which likely would be the one on the commercial Cassette Single.
Update: Discogs has the US CD version at 4:17, but photos of the back insert and the disc itself say 4:25.

By the way, thank you Aaron for listing the promo details and I assume you put it on Discogs because I see it there now. Much appreciated!

You’re welcome! I also have the 12” single, which has the 7” Edit on it. I
will put it on the turntable within the next day or so, and we will find out
if it’s any different.

There was a version played on radio with a rap segment
in the bridge. The rest of this version sounded like the
album version. That might be the 12" edit or cassette
single version. When it was a hit, the version with the
rap bridge was as common as the 45/Lp version.

The 7" Edit on the 12" single has a printed time of 4:16 and actual time of 4:25. There is a rap in the middle of this version. The final seconds of the fade are super low.

That sounds like the version AutumnAarilyn mentioned. Thanks for checking on it, Aaron.

OK, after doing a quick comparison, I've discovered two things:
1) The non-described version on the promo CD single is the same mix as the 7" Edit on the 12" single.
2) The version found on Billboard Hot R&B Hits 1988 and Hitsville Vol. 2 is a totally different mix, presumably the LP version.
I'll pull my vinyl 45 to see which mix it contains, but I do not have the cassette single. If I had to guess, I'd say the promo CD and 7" Edit match the "Heart Version Edit" on the cassette single. The promo CD says "Original version appears on the Motown LP, MOT-6260, 'Messages From The Boys,'" so that seems to indicate this is not the original LP mix.

It would make sense if the 7" Edit is the same as the "Heart Version Edit", because then the promo would be specifically for the "Heart" mixes, Track 1 being an edit and Track 2 being the full version.

My stock 45 has the LP mix, so this is a case where the vinyl 45 and cassette single have different mixes.

I have the 45, cd album, and that Billboard 1988
compilation put out by Rhino and they all are the same
version without any rap. The flipside of the 45 had an
instrumental version.
