My commercial 45 has both a listed and actual time of (4:28). I have two different promo 45s for this. The first promo has this same, listed and actual (4:28) version on both sides. The second promo also has this same, listed and actual (4:28) version on one side, but then has both a listed and actual (3:58) version on the other side, with (Edited Version) appearing below the title.

"Hold Me 'Til the Mornin' Comes" has always been a favorite ballad of mine and to this day I can't believe it never climbed higher than #40 on Billboard. The song came out in 1983 and I'm convinced that had the record been released a year or two earlier when mellow middle-of-the-road (MOR) music was still ruling the charts prior to the explosion of MTV and new wave, it would have achieved a higher peak position.
Jim, do you know if the short DJ side running 3:58 is just an early fade of the full-length 4:28 version?

Pat:
Database comments for "Hold Me 'Til the Mornin' Comes" correctly notes that DJ copies of this 45 run (4:28) and (3:58). It might be useful to also add that commercial 45 copies all run 4:28.

There is a recent Anka CD release titled Duets with this track included.
Does anyone know if this release includes the original '83 hit version or
a re-recording?

I bought the new Duets CD and It's the 1998 remake with Peter Cetera
from the A Body Of Work Cd. Most the album is a repackage of that
with a few new duets mixed in.

I figured it wasn't the hit version. Thanks for the quick response.

Santi:
The only CD I've seen the hit version of Paul Anka's "Hold Me 'Til the Mornin' Comes" at the correct speed is the one currently listed in the database. I believe that disc is now out of print, but still easy to find.

Thanks Todd (the Sony disc is pretty cheap).

Is there any confirmation of the running time of the LP
Version of the song? The reason I ask is because the
Paul Anka comp, "Five Decades Greatest Hits", has a
version running about 4:38. It sounds to me like the
original recording of the song, not a remake. I was
wondering if this 4:38 could possibly be the true length
of the song on the "Walk A Fine Line" LP, even though
Discogs lists the running time as 4:28.

Pat notes in the database that the Curb CD is "slower
than the 45 or LP" so no it's not the true length of the
LP but it is the original hit version.

Yeah, I remember the song sounding too slow on the Curb CD. Luckily, it's on quite a few Anka comps - which I have. It's at normal speed everywhere else.
