Given that the Gold & Platinum CD came out in 1988, I'd say it's very possible some radio stations used it as their CD source, especially given no promo CD was released.
Regarding "Faith," I agree that most stations probably cued right past the organ intro. Every time I saw the video on MTV, though, the organ intro was played in full. (The opening scene is the one with "I Want Your Sex" playing on the jukebox, and then the record changes with organ fading in.)

Thanks for confirming Aaron. It is an easy edit to make for your collection, even if it is not an official one.

I concur that most stations cued past the organ intro on
the "Faith" single. Makes perfect sense.

I'm not sure I recall hearing no organ intro on "Faith"
on my local Seattle radio station, but I know they
greatly truncated it, starting maybe five organ notes
before the guitar. I never heard the full organ intro
on the radio.

TM Studios, in their GoldDisc Library lists am "Intro
Edit" for Faith from George Michael. I presume they cut
the organ part off.

That's exactly what they did. It starts with the guitar strums.

Make of this what you will, but Sirius XM, who tends to play nothing but Album Versions actually plays the (one I dubbed) Single Version and not the Video Version. It's kinda intriguing, considering that the Single Version is not widely available.

It is especially intriguing, because the (one you dubbed) single version isn't even available on the 7" or 12" single. ;)
