My commercial 45, which is stereo, has a listed time of (4:55), but an actual time of (4:52).

I've actually been wondering about the early fade for this that's on a couple CDs, including his original "Greatest Hits" album. Is that early fade from the promo, or was it done specifically for the "Greatest Hits" album. Same question applies to "Grow Some Funk" on his "Greatest Hits Vol. II."

Bumping for Tim Brown. No one answered Brian's question in
2007, but I presume the promo 45 and stock 45 both ran
4:52.
It certainly wasn't unusual for an Elton John song to run
nearly 5 minutes or over.

As has been mentioned on this forum before, most of
Elton's 1970s singles had no (official) shorter promo
versions available. If stations wanted a shorter version,
they had to do in-house edits.

Only "Tiny Dancer" had a official short version.
