Pat, my commercial 45, which is mono, has a listed time of (3:15), but an actual time of (3:29). My deadwax is "AVCO-1672-M", followed by a circled "1". A triangle, followed by 92694, also appears on there later.

my commercial 45 also runs 3:29 and i was able to re-create
the proper 45 length version by using the 3:15 version and
inserting two additional loops of the chorus and keeping
the fade....if anyone would like a copy of my work, send me
an email....

In looping the choruses that way, are there any ad libs that are missing (or ad libs that are present and shouldn't be) during the last 14 seconds? I'm just curious - For my source (what I used for my CD-R collection), I used an import CD called "Ultimate Stylistics". The version on my CD-R clocks in at 3:30. I marked it as "Single version" and I don't remember doing any edits to get to the single version. But this was 4 years ago, so I may not recall if I did anything.

BTW, according to the database, the 4 US CDs with this song consist of 2 CDs containing the album version and 2 CDs containing "15 seconds shorter than the single version". This import CD "Ultimate" might be the only one that contains the true single version. I'm under the weather but will soon clock the CD to make sure it's the full 3:29 version.

as far as i can tell, there are no additional overdubs or
ad-libs during the looping of the chorus...but if you'd
like a copy of the vinyl 45 to compare, please let me
know.....and could i get a copy of your re-creation?

If you're asking me, Ed, I didn't do a recreation. I just took whatever version was off the UK import. If you'd like that, just let me know. I assume it would be the single version, since the time lines up, but it could be an early fade or an improper edit. At the time, I think I chose it simply because the sound was much better than what I had on the Amherst CDs.

Is the correct 45 version on an import CD (maybe "Ultimate Stylistics")? The version that runs 3:29 is what I'm looking for. I have the version that runs 15 seconds short.
