On the Bobby Vinton CD, 16 Most Requested Songs, the song "Roses Are Red (My Love)" starts with a couple of piano notes that are not on my US commercial 45, on which no instrumentation is heard before the vocals start. These intro piano notes are not on Billboard Top Pop Hits 1962.

That's interesting Paul. The piano notes are there at the start, but it's so short anyone would miss them (I do hear them now that you mention it). I do not hear the piano at the start for this song on these three CDs in the database:
Epic 26098 Greatest Hits
Sony Music Special Products 15819 Greatest Hits
Varese Sarabande 302066512 All-Time Greatest Hits
The short piano note(s) is audible on the Time-Life disc HPD-32 Your Hit Parade - Into The 60's. On this disc the piano note is even shorter than on the 16 Most Requested Songs (but it is there).
