Some confusion, if anyone has this promo:
There is a US promo for In The Closet which discogs says has a 4:16...this must be some error. I'm pretty sure they meant 4:26, which is about what the radio edit is.
Any clarification much appreciated!

Yes, it's a typo on the back cover. If you look at the
image of the disc itself in Discogs, it lists 4:36 for
the running time. I own the CD, and the actual running
time is more like 4:35.

Has anyone purchased the "Thriller 40" 34 track digital
release? I believe this is digital only (if anyone knows
if a CD exists please let me know). I'm seeing some bad
reviews on Discogs in regards to quality (compression). I
was thinking of picking this up on Qobuz for the 7"
version of "Human Nature."

'Human Nature 7"' on Thriller 40 is the correct version with flutey keyboard at 1:59. DR 6.
'Thriller (Special Edit)' on Thriller 40 is the UK/EU 45 version. DR 4.
As you can see by those DR Meter figures, it's quite brickwalled, not ideal.
'Thriller', track 1 on Visionary: The Video Singles (2006 DualDisc) is the US 45 version, a.k.a. 'Thriller (Remixed Short Version)'. DR 9.
'Thriller (Radio Edit)' on The Essential Michael Jackson (2008) is the US promo 45 version, a.k.a. 'Thriller (with Rap)'. DR 8.

There's a Japanese 3 inch cd with the correct 45 version of
"Human Nature" out there.

Ah, yep, that JP CD3 has the US 45 version of "Thriller" as well. Both are DR 11 with a small amount of clipping, if the rip I found is legit.

If I wanted to pick up this "Thriller 40" 34 track digital
release is Qobuz the only place to purchase it? I'm
assuming iTunes (is that still a thing) may have it but I
remember you can't purchase full quality files.

I have a rip of "Human Nature" from this release that I've had in my digital library for years, and just wanted to pass on that my copy doesn't appear to have any clipping. DR is nice (I don't have a tool
for measuring it, but just looking at it visually DR11 as you state would probably be in the ballpark). The left channel peaks at 99.07% and the right at 89.12%. Someone may have volume-adjusted the copy
you have before sharing it.

I am sure 7digital and Tidal have it.

Where can you buy the 34 track FLAC files? Is Qobuz Hi-
Res comparable? Sure wish there was just all of these
tracks on a 3 set CD!

Qobuz Hi-Rez is better-than-CD quality (higher bitrate, 24-bit vs. 16-bit for CDs). You can purchase CD quality at Qobuz as well... it will ask you when you check out whether you want CD quality.

Thanks Brian. I guess my big question is how does the Hi-
Res files compare to a FLAC file? If FLAC is indeed
superior, where can I download FLAC files as stated on the
Discogs digital release page?

The Hi-Rez files are FLAC files. They're just FLAC files at a slightly higher bitrate.
A physical CD - 16-bit/44.1khz
Qobuz FLAC - 16-bit/44.1khz (so the same as a CD)
Qobuz Hi-Rez FLAC - 24-bit/44.1khz (a little bit better quality still)
Both the FLAC and the Hi-Rez FLAC can be downloaded at the link I posted above. You just choose which
when you put it in your cart.
