Pretty sure (but not positive) that the 45 and LP versions are different (as opposed to length of fade). I have a version on CD that just fades the LP version early (just as Collins is starting to sing the "no more, no more" with only the drums beating in the background). I do believe there is an edit at the top and then the early fade, but I don't know for sure. Anyone else do know for sure?

Yes, there definitely is an edit at the beginning, but I created my custom edit so long ago, I don't remember where. If I get a chance, I'll report back.

I post as the run time information.
The actual commercial 45 running time is (4:39), but the listed time is "4:45" on the record label. (Atlantic 7-89877)

With the flurry of Jim's new posts (welcome back, Jim!) wanted to thank abagon for the time of the 45. Now, to discover where the edit(s) are! :)

my commercial 45 issued as atlantic 89877 does not state a version on the label but does list a run time of 4:45, but actually runs 4:40, and is an edit of the full length cd/lp version....thx for the edit recreation aaron!!

Did anybody ever determine the edit points, and if so could you post them here? I'd love to re-create the edit but don't want to bother Aaron (again). ;-)
